Worship & Wonder
  • WORSHIP AND WONDER
IS FOR CHILDREN FROM AGE 4 TO GRADE 5.

    WHAT IS WORSHIP AND WONDER?
Worship experience designed for the developmental stages of our children
A time to hear God’s Word through stories told with figures and objects the kids can touch and even work with themselves
A time to let God speak to them as they wonder together about how they can relate with the story they’ve just seen and heard
An opportunity to internalize the story and to respond to God through their choice of any number of activities like clay, painting, drawing, working with the story figures & set, etc.
A time with God and friends where we sing, and feast, and even
encounter God. We trust that God is already at work within and around
our young people so we want to give them the space to process
that loving presence and communication.  Worship is relational, not simply educational
    .

    WHEN WILL IT BE OFFERED?
Worship and Wonder will now be a part of the whole worship experience of our young people.
Children will come to worship with their parents and stay through the
opening singing, prayer, greeting of one another, and singing. They
will be invited to follow the “Light of Christ” back to the Children’s
Sanctuary (Worship and Wonder Room) immediately before the
Scripture reading in the regular sanctuary. They will return to the
whole church worship around the time of Offering so that they can
experience the rest of the rituals of the whole church family.

    WHO WILL BE LEADING IT?
Two trained adults will be leading the Children Worship & Wonder each week.
If there are lots of children on any given week, a trained high school volunteer might be asked to provide extra help.

HOW CAN THE CONGREGATION BE SUPPORTIVE?
Welcome and love all our young people.
Keep the ministry and the children in your prayers.
Consider if you have gifts and a passion for working with young people.
Create a hospitable environment for the children in our worship service. Since they will be learning how to be a part of the
beginning and end of the service, it may take some time for each of them to grow into the expectations and into full participation.
Try to encourage them and model for them with your own participation.
Be patient and graceful with kids and adults alike as we are all capable of making too much noise or doing some things differently.
Celebrate every life (young or old) that wants to grow in faith and islearning to offer praise and their lives in their own unique ways.
