FEBRUARY 14 THROUGH FEBRUARY 18, 2008
MEXICO MISSION TRIP
First Christian Church Scottsdale has begun planning for our annual Mexican house building mission trip February 14-18, 2008. During this mission trip our church members will travel to Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point), Mexico and construct a home for a Mexican family utilizing only hand tools – no power tools allowed. Please see the photo display of last year’s trip in the courtyard after Sunday service.
Below is a breakdown of some of the major expenses. We will have a sign-up sheet in the courtyard for you who wish to contribute to this mission if you are unable to make the trip. Sign-up sheets for food item donations will be also be available. Amor Ministries arranges for all the building materials to be on site. Our church pays for them and we provide the tools, expertise and labor for constructing the home on the Mexican family’s lot. We have chosen to construct a
double-wide home again this year.
Total cost for trip $10,111
Construction materials $ 7,380
Campsite $ 886
Transport costs for all supplies $ 720
Medical Liability Insurance $ 225
Food & water $ 900
The projected cost per participant is $225 and is based upon 45 people and $10,000 total project cost. This covers all expenses except transportation. Registration deadline is now December 1, 2007 and is limited to 45 participants.
The above cost will be partially covered by contributions and fund raising efforts. Therefore, there will be a participation fee of $100 each with a $200 maximum per family to help offset the cost of the mission trip. Each participant is responsible for their own transportation to Mexico, shelter, sleeping bag, cots, etc. Amor now advises a CERTIFIED birth certificate for all - plus picture ID for 18 and over or passport will be required. School picture ID would be
helpful for children.
Our church has reservations at a modern campground (with restrooms, showers, store, etc.) located on the beach in Rocky Point. Three meals a day are provided for all participants.
Registration forms and sponsorship sign-up sheets will be available after service Sunday.
Contact Sandy Dale (602-908-4963), Bob Huber (480-443-3744) or John Johnson (480-948-4275) for additional information.
Join us on this rewarding mission trip. It will touch your heart forever.
